What's new on the web?

IDL | Bozeman has recently updated our website!  We are working hard to provide you with more access to daylighting and energy resources.  Try out some of our new features:

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our website.  If there is something you would like to see here ... just let us know.  We are your Montana contact for energy and daylighting information, education, and integrated design tools.

IDL - Bozeman Is Going to GREENBUILD!

Every year the USGBC hosts GREENBUILD, an international conference and expo for those interested and working in areas of sustainability and environmental awareness.  This year's conference is in Phoenix, Arizona (Nov. 11 - 13) and will have keynote speakers Al Gore and Sheryl Crow, 150 educational sessions with panels of experts in various fields, and hundreds of vendors from all over the world.

IDL - Bozeman will be attending this exciting event and hope to see you there!  (Details will be forthcoming for a gathering of Lab Network and Montana professionals.)

Watch for our December eNEWS to hear about our experiences at GREENBUILD 2009!

IDL | Bozeman can help with LEED certification

Are you considering registering a project for LEED certification?  IDL | Bozeman can help!  Involve us early in the design process, so we can make suggestions that will help achieve as many points as possible.  Then, our computer simulations and reports can help you to be awarded up to 20 points, 1 credit for daylighting and up to 19 credits for maximum energy efficiency.

In order to be awarded Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Credit 8.1: Daylight and Views, 75% of all regularly occupied areas must achieve 25 - 500 footcandles on September 21 at 9am and 3pm.  IDL | Bozeman can create a digital model that will display the footcandles being achieved in the required spaces, suggest modifications that will improve the quality of daylight, and prepare a report that will assist with certification.

IDL | Bozeman can also help with Energy and Atmosphere (EA) Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance.  This credit is worth up to 19 points.  In order to be awarded any points for this credit, a percentage improvement in the proposed building performance rating compared with the baseline building performance rating, based on Appendix G of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2007, must be demonstrated using a computer simulation of the whole building performance.  IDL | Bozeman can create an energy model using eQUEST or Autodesk Ecotect that will simulate energy performance, and compare it with a baseline building.

If you have any projects you are considering registering for LEED certification, don't forget to contact IDL | Bozeman early in the design process so we can provide maximum assistance with daylight and energy modeling, as we cannot simply provide compliance reports.
