Energy Rebates and Incentives

Northwestern Energy has many rebate and incentive programs available for buildings.  Following are brief descriptions of the incentive programs available for the commercial sector and for renewable energy.  All are under the Efficiency Plus program.

The Integrated Design Lab | Bozeman can help with the process of submittal for rebates, through energy modeling and daylight simulations.  Contact us early in the design process regarding your remodel, retrofit, and new constructions, so we can help maximize your rebate and savings.

E+ Natural Gas Savings for Existing Businesses

This offers prescriptive rebates for natural gas energy saving measures in existing facilities.  These savings include high efficiency furnace/boiler or water heater, stack heat exchanger, in-fared griddle/fry, refrigeration heat recovery, boiler tune-up, DHW circulation pump time clock, Energy Management Control System (EMCS) optimization, water heater tank wrap insulation, boiler pipe insulation, service hot water pipe insulation, heating duct sealing and insulation, ceiling insulation, exterior wall insulation, high efficiency windows and programmable thermostats.

E+ Natural Gas Savings for New Businesses

This offers prescriptive rebates for natural gas energy saving measures in new construction facilities.  These savings include high efficiency furnace/boiler or water heater, stack heat exchanger, in-fared griddle/fry, refrigeration heat recovery, boiler tune-up, DHW circulation pump time clock, Energy Management Control System (EMCS) optimization, water heater tank wrap insulation, boiler pipe insulation, service hot water pipe insulation, heating duct sealing and insulation, ceiling insulation, exterior wall insulation, high efficiency windows and programmable thermostats.

E+ Business Partners Program

This program provides customized incentives for electric and natural gas conservation.  Examples of projects include measures to improve lighting, heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, refrigeration, air handling, and pumping systems.  New and retrofit facilities are eligible.

E+ energy Appraisal for Businesses

This provides a free audit that focuses on identifying electric conservation opportunities for small commercial customers on North Western Energy’s electric distribution system.  A report with recommendations customized to the facility is provided.  Some energy saving measures may be installed as appropriate.

E+ Commercial Lighting Rebate Program

This program offers prescriptive rebates for the replacing of less efficient lighting technologies with high efficiency technologies.

E+ Motor and Motor Rewind Rebate Programs

This program offers rebates to offset purchase costs of new NEMA Premium motors purchased as replacements for burn-outs or for new construction (1 Hp – 200 Hp).  Rebates are offered for motor rewinds that meet Green Motor Practices through certified member motor service centers.

E+ Irrigator Program

This program provides financial incentives for the installment of energy efficient electric conservation in irrigation systems.

E+ Green Power

Electric customers have the option to “Green Up” their monthly service for as little as $2 extra a month.  By doing so, they help fund renewable energy and help provide environmental benefits associated with renewable energy that is being generated in the northwest and Wyoming.

E+ Renewable Energy Program

This provides incentives for qualifying solar, wind, or geothermal projects.  This does not include residential ground source heat pumps.

For more information, refer to “Rebates and Incentives” section of the Integrated Design Lab – Bozeman website.  Another helpful site with information on these specific programs is available at Northwestern Energy website.

Rebates, Incentives, and Energy Savings... IDL & YOU!

One dollar invested in more efficient electrical equipment ...
avoids more than two dollars in investment in electrical supply."
--International Energy Agency (IEA)

Using efficient equipment and renewable energy can make an incredible impact in our communities, our environment, and can not only save energy but also save money.  Through a variety of organizations, several rebate programs and incentives are available for customers using energy efficient equipment and renewable energy, for both existing buildings and new construction.

This past year, Northwestern Energy paid rebates on 403 completed commercial lighting projects.  Incentive payments totaled $1.1 million.  Annual electricity savings amounted to 14.8 million kWh.  The electricity saved could fully power 1645 Montana homes for a year.  And this is the commercial lighting retrofits alone!

The Integrated Design Lab | Bozeman can help with the process of submittal for these rebates, through energy modeling and daylight simulations.  Contact us early in the process regarding your remodel, retrofit, and new constructions, so we can help maximize your rebate and savings.
Check out our website for more information about our services.

NorthWestern Energy offers several rebates and incentives through their Efficiency Plus (E+) Program.  The E+ program helps customers save money, save energy, and save the environment.  E+ savings are realized through lower customer use of energy resources, which reduces the amount of electricity and natural gas NorthWestern Energy must purchase to meet demand.  Several options are available to NorthWestern Energy customers: simple rebates, weatherization programs, energy audits, custom commercial incentives, and support of renewable energy generation.

E+ Commercial Lighting Program
Offers rebates for the removal of old, less efficient lighting products which are replaced with high efficiency technologies, primarily for retrofit projects.  Call (800)823-5995 for more information.

E+ Natural Gas Savings for Existing Businesses
E+ Natural Gas Savings for New Businesses

Offers incentives on a variety of equipment designed to improve energy efficinecy.  Most rebates are calculated based on kBtu/hr rating of installed equipment.  Call (800)823-5995 for more information.

E+ Energy Appraisal for Businesses
Free audit that focuses on identifying electric conservation opportunities for small commercial customers.  A report with recommendations customized to the facility is provided.  This energy appraisal is currently available for businesses that have an average peak demand of 300kW or less.  Call (800)823-5995 for more information.

E+ Green Power
Electric customers have the option to "Green Up" their monthly service for as little as $2 extra a month.  By doing so, they help fund renewable energy and help provide environmental benefits associated with renewable energy that is being generaged in the northwest and Wyoming.  Call (888)467-2669 for more information, or click here for more information about any of the NorthWestern Energy E+ programs.
